Bimini, Bahamas. Warm waters, an abundance of conch salad, and Kalik Beer. This majestic island just 80 kilometers from Miami is the perfect getaway for anyone.
How to get there:
By private boat from Miami
Charter a plane
Seaplane
Fly from Fort Lauderdale ( Silver Airways )
Express ferry from Fort Lauderdale
During these Covid times, there are several steps you have to make when going to Bimini.
Take a covid PCR test 5 days before arrival
Apply for a health Visa https://travel.gov.bs You can only do this once you have your negative PCR test to submit
Complete daily health surveys during your stay
If you are there for more than 5 days, you must take a Rapid antigen test in the clinic. Appointments must be made. My suggestion is once you arrive in Bimini, jump on your golf cart and go make the appointment for yourself and anyone else who is traveling with you
You need a COVID test to go back to the US.
Where to stay in Bimini, Bahamas
For years, I have been going to Bimini Bay. It is located on the South of the island. There is a hotel, casino, and several pools, but you can also rent your private home or condo on the property if you do not want to stay in the hotel. The Hilton at Resorts World Bimini is the perfect place to stay when you want to just check-in and enjoy this beautiful island. Click here for your personal Free Quote.
If you want to be in town, you can stay in Bimini Big Game Club Resort & Marina. You can also try AirBnB.
Everyone on the island has a golf cart. It is the best way to get around. Whether you need to pick up some conch salad at Stewarts or some AMAZING Bimini bread at Charlie's. A golf cart is your best bet. You can easily rent them while you are staying in The Hilton at Resorts World Biminis or you can rent them in town.
If you are traveling by boat or by plane, I highly suggest bringing your must-have items to the island. Since the island is very small, they have very limited supplies. For example, anytime I go to Bimini, my family and friends bring, our own bottles of wine, cheeses, ingredients for salads etc all in check-in luggage with ice packs. The flight from Fort Lauderdale to Bimini is only 20 minutes, so no worries about your food being spoiled.
In town, you can find items like Ice, Kalik Beer, and some other food essentials but it will be at a premium. The best is to pack it up and bring it with you! But to be honest, there is some great food on the island.
I cannot get enough of Conch Salad. You must go to Stewarts for their conch. You can take it to go, or eat it there on their dock overlooking the crystal blue water.
You can also head to The Big Game where they possibly have the best fish tacos I have ever had! Wish I had a photo of them, but I just devoured them. For the best fried fish and conch fritters, you have to go to Shellys. Shellys is located on the north side of the island on the beachfront. If you are in the mood for Sushi, you can go to The Hilton at Resorts World Bimini and get your fix there.
If you want to enjoy white sands, clear waters, amazing humans, and great seafood, Bimini is the place to visit. The best tip I can give you is if you go to Bimini and have a question, ask anyone! The Bahamians are more than happy to help in any way they can.
There is a new beach club on the island that was not open when I went. From what I saw, it looked like another incredible place to be during your stay in Bimini. ( I will go one day and update you! )
Beautiful days and Beautiful Sunsets.
